Quick answer

  • The 90-minute Core Session suits most students, beginner or test-prep.
  • The 60-minute Focus Session is for quick, targeted tune-ups when you are close to ready.
  • The 120-minute Mastery Session is best for fast foundations or covering a lot before a test.
  • An Exam Simulation is a mock road test, not a lesson: it tells you if you would pass today.
  • Packages give the best value once you know you need several sessions.

If you are looking for driving lessons in Chilliwack, you have probably noticed that not all lessons are the same. Session lengths vary, packages differ, and it is not always clear which option gives the best value for where you are. Here is how the main options at Right of Way compare, so you can choose with confidence.

The 60-minute Focus Session

The 60-minute Focus Session is the shortest individual lesson. It is built for students who already have some experience and want to sharpen one or two specific skills, such as parallel parking, intersection management, or shoulder-check habits.

It works well when you are close to test-ready and just need targeted tune-ups, or when your week is tight and you want to keep momentum between longer sessions. If you are still building the basics, though, 60 minutes can feel rushed once you factor in the warm-up.

The 90-minute Core Session

The 90-minute Core Session is the most popular option, and the one most students benefit from. Ninety minutes leaves room for a proper warm-up, focused skill work, and real driving across different road types without feeling rushed.

A typical session might start with mirror and signalling habits, move to a focused drill such as left turns at busy intersections, and finish with open driving through residential and commercial zones. That extra 30 minutes over the Focus Session makes a real difference in progress per lesson. For most students, this is the length to start with.

The 120-minute Mastery Session

The 120-minute Mastery Session is a deep-immersion option. Two full hours lets you work a broader range of skills, practise in different environments, and build the stamina and focus the road test requires. It is especially useful if you:

  • Are starting from zero and want a strong foundation quickly
  • Have a road test soon and need to cover a lot of ground
  • Prefer fewer, longer sessions over frequent short ones
  • Want to practise a full mock-test-style drive within the lesson

Exam Simulations vs. regular lessons

Regular lessons build and refine skills. Exam Simulations are different: they replicate the road test from start to finish, with examiner-style directions, no coaching during the drive, and scoring modelled on the areas ICBC examiners mark.

We offer both a Class 7 Exam Simulation and a Class 5 Exam Simulation, each 90 minutes. A simulation is not a substitute for lessons: it is the final check before your test. It answers one question, would I pass today, and shows exactly what to fix if not.

Packages vs. single lessons

We offer both single lessons and multi-lesson packages. The right choice depends on where you are.

Single lessons make sense when you are close to ready and only need a session or two, or when you want to try a lesson before committing. They also suit unpredictable schedules that need maximum flexibility.

Packages are better value when you know you will need several sessions. They lower the per-lesson cost and let your instructor plan a progression instead of treating each lesson as standalone. See current pricing on our Services & Pricing page.

How to decide: a simple framework

  • Brand new to driving? Start with a 90-minute Core or 120-minute Mastery Session. You need time to build fundamentals without rushing.
  • Some experience, need practice? The 90-minute Core Session is almost always the right call.
  • Test coming up soon? Book an Exam Simulation to see where you stand, then use a lesson or two to fix weak areas.
  • Just need a tune-up? The 60-minute Focus Session is efficient for one or two specific skills.
  • Not sure at all? Book a single 90-minute session. Your instructor assesses your level and recommends a plan. No pressure, no upselling.

FAQ

Which lesson length should a beginner pick?

Most beginners do best with the 90-minute Core Session. It gives enough time for a warm-up, focused skill work, and real driving practice without feeling rushed.

Do you offer lesson packages?

Yes. Packages lower the per-lesson cost and let your instructor plan a progression across sessions. Current pricing is on the Services and Pricing page.

How do I know which lesson is right for me?

Book a single 90-minute session. Your instructor assesses your skill level and recommends a plan from there. No pressure and no upselling, just honest feedback.
